Another busy Bank Holiday Weekend ahead for LJLA Back

Another busy Bank Holiday Weekend ahead for LJLA Once again it is likely to be Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s (LJLA) busiest weekend of the year as the August Bank Holiday getaway begins on Friday, with around 60,000 travellers expected to pass through the Airport over the coming days.

Increased passenger numbers experienced so far this year are likely to continue, with the Airport expecting around 7% more passengers this August Bank Holiday compared to last year, as passengers take advantage of the wider choice of holiday destinations available from LJLA. The recent poor summer weather is again likely to be a factor in the increased business, as the region’s holidaymakers choose to head off somewhere warmer from Liverpool.

The most popular destinations are likely to be Palma, Alicante, Malaga, the Canaries, Nice and Larnaca. Whilst many are also choosing to travel away for a city break with flights to Barcelona, Lisbon, Berlin and Bratislava looking busy too. Plenty of visitors are also expected to fly Liverpool too this weekend as the City Region plays host to a number of events including the Liverpool International Music Festival of which the Airport is one of the sponsors, the International Beatleweek and Creamfields in nearby Daresbury.

Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Liverpool John Lennon Airport, commented: “It’s been a busy first half of the year for the Airport and this has continued throughout the school holidays, so we expect this weekend to be our busiest of the year once again and up around 7% on last year’s too as the region’s holidaymakers take advantage of the convenience of jetting off for a few days from their local airport.”
