Wirral celebrates its business prowess at prestigious awards showcase  
COMPANIES in Wirral are celebrating after being named as winners in the Wirral Business Awards 2016, organised by Wirral Chamber of Commerce. The annual business celebration, one of the largest and most prestigious events to be held the region, highlighted the outstanding innovation and enterprise achieved by companies and individuals across the spectrum of Wirral’s business community.
 
DIVERSE
Taking place for the tenth year, the 2016 Wirral Business Awards welcomed a record number of applications, demonstrating the diversity and strength of Wirral’s business sector and the positive impact it is having for economic growth.
 
Thirteen awards were handed out to businesses, entrepreneurs and young people when the 2016 winners were announced at a gala awards dinner held at Thornton Manor on Friday 16th September.
 
Speaking of the qualities demonstrated by the award winners, Paula Basnett, CEO of Wirral Chamber of Commerce, said, “The successful winners reflect the diverse range of businesses that make Wirral a location of excellence and one which welcomes and supports business success.”
 
She added, “All of our applicants, and in particular the eventual winners, demonstrated the passion, determination, energy and skill that goes into running a top performing company.
 
“These characteristics deserve recognition and through the Wirral Business Awards we have been able to celebrate innovation and enterprise of businesses from a wide range of sectors.”

Asif Hamid, Chair of Wirral Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the importance of the awards, commenting, “It is an absolute pleasure for the Wirral Chamber of Commerce to organise this event so we can showcase the versatility of Wirral’s businesses from financial services to manufacturing to social care.
 
“I’ve always said that Wirral is an outstanding place to do business and tonight confirms that viewpoint. Wirral is full of talented business people and companies offering goods and services which are used and sold to a global marketplace.”
 
He added, “Tonight we came together as a business community to recognise and reward the best practice and groundbreaking achievements of our award winners. Despite operating in uncertain times, Wirral’s businesses continue to succeed, driving growth, creating jobs and delivering investment for Wirral and for our region.”
