Magenta Living opens new depot and forges managed stores partnership
Magenta Living has officially opened its £1.8 million depot complex at St Mary’s Gate, Birkenhead, and marked its new partnership with Travis Perkins for its materials supply chain.

After 40 years at Dock Road, Wallasey, and running its own stores, initially with Wallasey Urban District Council, Wirral Borough Council, Wirral Partnership Homes (Building Services) Ltd, Wirral Partnership Homes and now under our trading name Magenta Living, the Magenta Living Building Services team has now moved its day to day operations into a modern, energy efficient, new depot complex.

Managed Services, part of Travis Perkins plc, now provide the material supply chain for the 170 trades people who work out of the depot, providing repairs, maintenance and improvements to Magenta Living’s tenants in 12,200 homes as well as a range of maintenance and improvement services to external clients such as Leasowe Community Homes and Wirral Borough council.

Brothers Chris and John Heggarty who originally worked for the organisation as a Team Leader and a Senior Team Leader until retirement, were guests of honour and cut the ribbon to mark the opening.

The family link continues as Chris’s son Matt is now the manager of the new Travis Perkins Magenta Living store based in the depot.

Geoff Muise, Operational Director at Magenta Living, says: “We wanted to modernise our procurement and material supply operation. These new arrangements will greatly improve our materials delivery supply management across Wirral.  As well as enhancing our delivery of our repairs and maintenance services, the cost savings and other efficiencies created as a result of this new contract will allow Magenta Living to offer our services to a wider customer base and geographical area and invest the savings generated into building more homes.”

Magenta Living Chief Executive Brian Simpson says: “The old depot at Dock Road served us very well and undoubtedly holds plenty of memories for our trades people who worked there.

“The new depot will serve us well as we go into the future – serving current and future customers, diversifying to create a resilient business, leading by example and, very importantly, delivering excellent services by demonstrating a value for money approach.”
